A while back, Deron Belt invited me to write a little blog for the league. This really is my first attempt at this, so forgive the brevity and inconsistency and mediocre attempts at experimental bloggery. Actually this entire season has been a bit of an experiment for me — I became a KVKL council member this year. I had NO idea what I was getting into, but there was only one way to find out. My aspirations were simple: to champion the underdog and raise awareness of how we could benefit our community and earn its respect — primarily by starting a recycling program with our league recognized as a major donor.
Well, while the recycling program is still in a fledgling stage, we have a benefactor of all our, uh, magnanimous imbibery. Yes, the East Lawrence Neighborhood Association appreciates your responsible drinking…and collection of aluminum cans. We’ve had generous offers from the ELNA to help with the removal of bottles in the meantime while we decide how the entire recycling program will work. Please continue to drain the last precious drops from your drinking vessels and help bring recyclable beverage containers in the “official” plastic bags to the Game of the Week for drop off.
Feel free to drop off your comments, questions or suggestions about recycling — or anything–HERE! Thanks! Adina
